Retail Assistant

Modern Companion is currently seeking a Retail Assistant to join our team! This opportunity is perfect for a high school Junior or Senior local to the area.  As a Retail Assistant for Modern Companion, you will help assist and execute small day-to-day tasks and/or larger projects assigned by the Owner and Sales Associates. You must have an outgoing personality, be attentive to details, love pets, and have excellent customer service skills. 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Be friendly and courteous to customers, suppliers, and co-workers.
  • Operate our online inventory management system confidently.
  • Accurately perform all inventory processing, merchandise inspection, receiving into the POS, tagging, stocking, and displaying.
  • Pack and move inventory for special events, pop-ups, etc.
  • Actively maintain the store appearance by keeping merchandise neatly organized and attractively displayed.
  • Change light bulbs, vacuum, mop, dust shelves and flat surfaces, clean up dog messes, and all other housekeeping duties.
  • Assist co-workers as needed to ensure projects and tasks are completed on time.
  • You may be asked to engage customers in conversation and assist in understanding actively, demonstrating, describing, and selecting our merchandise. 
  • You may be asked to operate our POS register

Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Comfortable and quick with technology and software
  • Familiar with social media and up-and-coming trends
  • Strong time management skills
  • Must be attentive to detail
  • Must be able to make quick and educated decisions
  • General pet knowledge
  • Must be willing to work Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:00 pm - 6:00pm 
  • Additional help for special events, holiday weekends, and/or other weekdays may be asked for on an as-needed basis.
